Yep, although in my last job, none of us had had a pay rise for 5 or 6 years, looking back it was still above most of the similar experienced design jobs being advertised at the moment. The only well paid areas in design at the moment seem to be web developers (in particular, PHP and Responsive Design) iOS or Android developers and Motion Graphics (After Effects) - none of which I have experience of sadly. Just happy I've managed to get something to be honest! Will look into training courses to learn some of the above so I'm ready for the next move. Couldn't really justify spending £100s on courses when I was out of work. Thanks!

I would look into the idea of training for app development especially if it can be linked to websites, which I see as an area that might be very valuable at some point. If you see a way that your new employer could benefit from it, it could be the basis of a reason for them to fund your training. Do it slowly so the costs are not too high and it might be easier for them to accept.

Good lick Steve. Great to hear you are back working again. Having been twice made redundant, I know your situation. As to pay, I'm earning the same I was in 2008 and that is a third less than I was on in 2002.

Can your new job help with training if they think it'll benefit them? Once you've got your feet under the table I mean.

Indeed. I think the biggest problem Labour will face at the next election is his total lack of charisma.

Yep. Which, I fear, will hand another term to David Cameron and his posh boys club.

At the risk of controversy, I agree with Lev. Soup != food Salad = garnish

Unfortunately I would have no faith in Ed's brother. The party moved too far to the right in my opinion.
