It messes up some of your quoting options etc, depending on what 'skin' you choose though (in my experience)

How about a post preview thing, so when your cursor hovers over the title of a thread, it shows the first few words as a tooltip.

As long as the tooltips have a delay of five or ten seconds, sounds like a cool idea. Tooltips annoy me at the best of times...

Tooltips would be the browser default.
Depends if they are "real" tooltips, or if they are "fake" and produced with JavaScript.

No, I can't stand the stuff lol I would happily sanction the use of JavaScript to hide stickies though!

JavaScript is a horrid thing. It's horrid to write, and it's the base of most "web 2.0" applications, personally I'm waiting for the 2.1 patch to fix all the problems I have with Facebook, the BBC site, etc...
