I've no problem with life meaning life since we can't rely on the corrupt justice system if it
ever came to executing scumbags, but for somewhat similar reasons you need an ongoing review process. The Met. amongst others are still fitting people up today, and who wouldn't go mental when wrongly thrown into a cell for 'life'?
