No, it's an abomination.

How can it be a pie without a pastry top? It either has to be fully eclosed with pastry, or be in a dish where the pastry completely covers the filling so none of the filling is exposed.
I hate it when pubs advertise pie, then give you stew on a plate with a circle of puff pastry sat on top.

It preys upon the ignorant and weak-witted, the deprived and the uneducated whose fortitude or lack thereof cannot possibly overcome the beguilement of the promise of heart-warming, order-restoring alimentary encasement. It is a most accursed abomination perpetrated by that most baneful and malefic of purveyors of foodstuffs, Fray Bentos.
May he who speaks of puff pastry with reverence be eternally condemned, most bitterly scorned and cast out to take his rightful place in the fiery chasm alongside the overly-loud phone-talker and the cinema-latecomer, period drama creators, tailgaters, OS fanbois, cous-cous eaters and advertising consultants. Glory be to the PIE!"

Well it was a copy and paste, so I'm assuming it was missing from the original.

It was indeed missing from the original - that's what's so irritating.
