They all say that. My wife changed her mind after a week or so of Aaron being born (& that was with no pain relief at all). Don't worry about the lack of sleep, you'll get used to it (after 18 months I can survive on a couple of hours sleep a night). Try to sleep when the baby's sleeping, it helps (& don't operate heavy machinery).

The bit before they start solids is the best... you can feed them the stuff out of jars and the colour of the poo changes accordingly!

That poop is usually in the hospital. You can get a midwife to change that (as it takes a while to work out how nappies work, well that was my excuse). Nice thick black stuff, looks like the baby has been on a Guiness diet.
