2 guys attempted to get to work, one turned round the other had to dig himself a parking space and isn't sure if he'll be able to get out the carpark. Our office is down a dirt track behind a farm surrounded by fields. Nobody has cleared any snow from the area so there's big lumps of ice & snow everywhere.

She's kind of right, you know. If we begin to see this kind of weather every year, we will have to adapt to it - both workers and employers. For example, how many of us could reasonably work from home these days? What benefit is there to trekking into an office if you can telecommute in bad weather? This sort of stuff should be written into contracts and agreed on. It still amazes me how many people commute into London for an office job they could do from their dining room table. How many of us bothered to prepare our cars for cold weather? (Apart from a winter check and service, I didn't get winter tyres or anything.) Perhaps if we took some responsibility for these preparations fewer drivers would have been stranded when the bad weather struck. Stranded cars and lorries block essential services getting through, too. How many of us stock up with dry and canned foods early in the winter "just in case"? We do every year, whether we're expecting a freeze or not. It's all common sense, really. Sadly, common sense is not something on the school curriculum.

I'd love to be able to work from home but as the kids are not in school and I don't have a "quiet place" to work from, it's a non-starter for me. Having said that I have managed to get into the office every day so far.

Al, hope everything's okay. I was going to try and contact you later off list about Britstock, but you seem to have other issues that are more pressing. Take care!

Lucky you! (8-p) If I were in that position I'd assume that the more air I got the better I'd feel, so obviously I had ample justification for a nice long walk all day and not getting anything done (8-p)

NFW! Have church and reception booked - £500 in total. Friend is doing the sound and lighting for free. Sister 1 is doing dress and flowers. Sister 2 is doing cake. Hoping to get the whole kit and kaboodle done for under a grand. More money left for honeymoon and house.
