Morning all.
Slightly hungover from yesterdays impromptu drinking session.
Considering going in to work after I check how bad the ice is outside.

You're worried about a bit of ice??? Some of us haven't missed a single day of work

2 guys attempted to get to work, one turned round the other had to dig himself a parking space and isn't sure if he'll be able to get out the carpark.

Our office is down a dirt track behind a farm surrounded by fields. Nobody has cleared any snow from the area so there's big lumps of ice & snow everywhere.

She's kind of right, you know.

If we begin to see this kind of weather every year, we will have to adapt to it - both workers and employers.

For example, how many of us could reasonably work from home these days? What benefit is there to trekking into an office if you can telecommute in bad weather? This sort of stuff should be written into contracts and agreed on. It still amazes me how many people commute into London for an office job they could do from their dining room table.

How many of us bothered to prepare our cars for cold weather? (Apart from a winter check and service, I didn't get winter tyres or anything.) Perhaps if we took some responsibility for these preparations fewer drivers would have been stranded when the bad weather struck. Stranded cars and lorries block essential services getting through, too.

How many of us stock up with dry and canned foods early in the winter "just in case"? We do every year, whether we're expecting a freeze or not.

It's all common sense, really. Sadly, common sense is not something on the school curriculum.

I'd love to be able to work from home but as the kids are not in school and I don't have a "quiet place" to work from, it's a non-starter for me.

Having said that I have managed to get into the office every day so far. :D

Hello Every Peeps

Looks like I'm going to be up at 05:30 every weekday until this weather sorts it's life out, it took 15 minute to get Horace warmed up, defrosted, out of his parking space and out of the farm gate this morning  poor cold boy. Still the roads were relatively clear and I wasn't delayed so that's a bonus. We're supposed to get more snow this weekend, but the "kids" have got to be picked up (fish from my parents and furries from my sister) so there's no choice but to go out again Saturday.

The sun is shining in Notts, but just a little while ago we had black skies and snow flurries, so I think "bipolar" is a good weather description for today  I've managed to get through my "To Do" emails which started at 56 this morning and now are down to 4 8-) although I haven't touched my "To Read" emails yet, a job for another time I think.

Amy you're late - naughty!

Britstock Photo took flight late yesterday. We launch officially in a few minutes, and we're planning our PR campaign to go tomorrow (once we've worked out the inevitable wrinkles).

:D

That's brilliant good luck ! :D

Al, hope everything's okay. I was going to try and contact you later off list about Britstock, but you seem to have other issues that are more pressing. Take care!

Thank Edd :) People up at uni are very good, going to see someone on Thursday. After having some air I feel up to some revision too, oh joy of joys  :)

Lucky you! (8-p)

If I were in that position I'd assume that the more air I got the better I'd feel, so obviously I had ample justification for a nice long walk all day and not getting anything done (8-p)

NFW! Have church and reception booked - £500 in total. Friend is doing the sound and lighting for free. Sister 1 is doing dress and flowers. Sister 2 is doing cake.

Hoping to get the whole kit and kaboodle done for under a grand. More money left for honeymoon and house.
